Don’t Be a Victim

Women are too often left to defend themselves with no real self defense skills. I think self defense should be taught in schools. All girls should know how to fire a gun and to fight back if someone is trying to kidnap them or mug them. It can mean the difference between life and death.
Magazine Drive
by CWG on Nov.02, 2011, under My Life
My boss has two kids in private school, and they always have a fund raiser that we are told about. The kids are supposed to sell magazine subscriptions and they earn a cut of the price. So the boss wants each of us to order a magazine. I ordered one from each kid – it was pragmatic.
Orange Clogs

Tonight I saw an interview with a famous chef who owns 19 restaurants. He is a red haired, fat guy with a big personality. I’m sure he has his own TV show, but I don’t watch those and have no idea what his name is. All I remember is that he was really intense when he talked and that he was wearing orange clogs. He had a bright green hair tie holding back his really long red hair, a houndstooth wool jacket, and bright orange clogs. I sure hope his sense of food is much better than his fashion sense.
The One Percent
by CWG on Oct.13, 2011, under Newsworthy, Some Ideas
Most of my life I have heard the term the one percent or the one percenters. But in my little world, that used to refer to the outlaw motorcycle gang bangers. They even wear a triangular patch with “1%” stitched in red.
Suddenly that term means the Uber Rich people, the billionaires, that are prime examples of corporate greed. The current term means that one percent of the population owns the majority of the wealth in this country.
Differences You Can Spot
by CWG on Oct.07, 2011, under Our Culture, TV & Movies
Staying up really late, your TV choices diminish rapidly after 2:00 am. The majority of cable channels all go to paid programs, which are basically 30 minute or 60 minute infomercials.
If I am up that late, I usually change the channel to CNN and watch the international reports. Their hosts are mostly British and you can really tell they are not American. This goes way beyond their clipped British accents. Their clothes are different and the women have very different hairstyles and makeup.
