New Pillows
by CWG on Jan.07, 2012, under Healthy Stuff, My Life
Last night I could not get comfortable and sleep well. Of course, I have a lot on my mind. But I blame my flat and worn out pillows for most of the insomnia. I am going to buy some new pillows today. Not the cheap $10 pillows from WalMart. I want nice, feather and down pillows, from either Macy’s or Bed Bath and Beyond. I don’t care how much they cost. I need my sleep and a good pillow is a big part of that equation.
Slow and Easy Today

New Year’s Eve was just too much fun We went downtown for the big street party. They had music on the riverfront stage, with the main act, Lynyrd Skynyrd. They rocked this town at midnight, let me tell you! We didn’t get home until almost 4:00 am. Today is going to be slow and easy – I am so glad I don’t have to work until Wednesday!
Here Comes Santa

The local CBS TV affiliate is doing 15 minutes updates all night long showing Santa’s progress as he makes his way around the world in 24 hours. They are claiming the maps show Santa being tracked by NORAD. It’s a cute idea – especially when the newscaster is ending each update by urging the children to get in bed and be sound asleep before Santa gets to our neighborhood.
Merry Christmas – and I hope Santa is good to you!
Marinating Steaks

Even in these hard economic times, we try to enjoy a steak dinner once in a while. I try to buy a good steak when they are on sale. The problem with the cheaper steaks is finding tender ones. If its not a tender cut, I can offset that by marinating the steaks for 20-30 minutes before grilling them.
My favorite steak marinade is dark brown, spicy sauce called Dale’s Steak Sauce and Marinade. If they don’t have Dale’s, I have like the Johnny’s brand, too. And once in a while I will use the A-1 marinade called Chicago Style.
Ding Dong

My dogs go crazy when they hear a doorbell. Any doorbell – even one on TV. That makes it incredibly difficult to watch the late night reruns of Frasier. I believe that every episode of Frasier has at least one doorbell being rung. Sometimes several in one show. When it is almost 1:00 and the doorbell rings on Frasier, they start barking and wake up the whole house. So I have to change the channel and find something else to watch at midnight.
